Siriusly Great Track Day!

Had a great day at the North Texas Kartways (NTK) track yesterday.  First was an “Arrive and Drive” with a CRG Darkrider Rotax DD2 with a customer with SCCA, Spec Miata racing experience. He had never driven a kart before but adapted rather quickly with his past race experience.

The rest of the afternoon was spent coaching a junior driver from the Rotax Minimax category. We made progress all day and every small change to the kart and engine were steps in the right direction.

Intrepid Sirius on sale now at The Kart Shop in Sachse Texas NTKAt the end of the day, one of our customers asked me if I wanted to drive his kart. It was a new Intrepid Sirius with a Rotax FR125 strapped to it that we had just built in the shop.  It didn’t take too much arm-twisting to make me throw my helmet back on!  After getting some heat in the tires, I started bring the lap times down. This kart does everything a kart is supposed to do. It has excellent “turn-in response” and rebounds off the curbs very well.

Please excuse the commercial “plug”, but the Sirius hasn’t even had a wrench to it since leaving the TKS shop and I couldn’t imagine doing anything to the chassis for improvement! I was very impressed how easy it was to just jump in this kart and it “worked”.  I drove Intrepid karts some six years back for Champion Racing but I can tell you these Intrepid’s today are NOT the same as the early Intrepids.

I’ve become accustomed to driving my trusty Zanardi, but I now have a much better understanding of how Intrepid Karts swept the recent SuperNats in Las Vegas!  I’m at the track again today, but soon I’ll post our Intrepid Sirius baseline setup for the NTK track.  If you’d like it sooner, call TKS at 214-882-6823 or contact us through our main website at TheKartShop.net.
